Sensitive skin has always been a big struggle for me. Whether it is face wash, makeup, or deodorant – I’ve always had trouble finding products that work without causing my skin to become irritated and dry. Over the past few months my underarm irritation has become unbearable (it is summer after all). After countless trips to the dermatologist and various prescription creams/gels/foams/etc., I decided it was time to find a natural deodorant – one that works and will keep my irritation at bay. Through months of searching, I found these 6 deodorants that I decided to try. Here are my pros, cons, and ratings of each.
1. Tom’s of Maine Long-Lasting Deodorant (Wild Lavender)
Let me start by saying this does not work. At all. First, the (weird) scent is very strong and I smell like walking incense. I couldn’t stand the scent. This deodorant needs to be reapplied countless times throughout the day to cover any body odors, and even then it is obvious that you are just masking it. I would not recommend this to anyone.

2. Crystal Essence Lavender & White Tea Roll-On
This was the second deodorant I tried and honestly, it wasn’t too bad. It has a liquid roller application, so it takes a few minutes to dry. I usually applied this and stood in front of a fan before dressing. The smell is fresh and clean. I did have to reapply 1-2 times throughout the day (depending on activity level), but it masked the body odor fairly well. I ended up using this for quite a while before searching for a replacement. This reduced my overall irritation compared some well-known brands (Dove, Secret, etc.) but I still had minor irritation once in a while. I also tried this Crystal body deodorant stick and it does not work.

3. Lavanila The Healthy Deodorant (Vanilla Coconut)
I found this deodorant at Sephora and saw that it had fantastic reviews. Obviously, I had to try it. This is a WINNER. There are various scents to choose from, although the Vanilla Coconut is my favorite. It smells fresh and clean and I do not have to reapply throughout the day – once in the morning is enough. Seriously, this smells great and it is amazing for my sensitive skin.

4. Lavanila Sport Luxe Deodorant
After loving the vanilla coconut deodorant, I noticed they have a new Sport version. I head to the gym quite a bit, so I thought it wouldn’t hurt to test a new one out to last throughout high-activity days. Yes, this is also a winner. Smells fresh, long-lasting and extra-soothing on my skin. Now that I have two that I love, I rotate between the two depending on my day. I highly recommend both versions.

5. Nourish Organic Fresh Fig Deodorant
I found this deodorant at Whole Foods and thought I’d try it. There are a few different scents, although this seemed like the best option for me. Boy, I was wrong. I apply this once in the morning and it does last all day, however, the scent is much stronger on me. I couldn’t bare the overly-sweet smell and it also felt sticky all day. I had to wash this off and stop using it.

6. Burt’s Bees Deodorant
I’ve never heard of spray deodorants before this one. This does have alcohol in the ingredients, which kills bacteria while covering body odor. I applied this and it lasted about 5 minutes before burning my skin. I washed it off immediately. Overall, I wasn’t a fan of the Sage scent anyways. I would not recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin.
