I’m so excited that it is December and that means it is time for my Winter capsule wardrobe! First, let’s look back at the last 3 months and see how my first ever Fall capsule wardrobe went.

Fall Capsule Wardrobe – Conclusion

Having a capsule wardrobe has changed my life. That may sound a little dramatic, but seriously. After having so much less in my closet it makes getting dressed from day to day a breeze. I can go into my closet and know that at any point, I can wear anything I see, love it and feel 100% comfortable in it. Before having a capsule wardrobe, I was an extreme shopaholic. By that I mean, an impulse shopper that made many regretful purchases. I’d buy things that were on sale, but things I didn’t necessarily love. When it came time to prep for the capsule wardrobe, it was surprisingly easy to narrow it down to a key 30-40 piece set. Most of the things I chose to keep where really the only things I was wearing at the time anyways. Easy peasy.

When I’d go out to a store, remembering that I was sticking to my capsule wardrobe made it easy to walk away from potential purchases. I knew I had everything I needed for the next 3 months and did not need to buy *this blouse that was on sale*. It really changed my mindset and let me focus on other things that were more important. See my overview of month 1 here.

What I Learned

This year the weather has been much warmer than in the past. That made my choices for the Fall capsule wardrobe difficult. I didn’t have enough shorts and cool-weather items to get me through the first two months. I did end up cheating a little bit on those really hot days. In the future, I’ll be sure to keep a few more versatile pieces in the set that will work for those unexpected warm or cool days.

The Process

I’ve chosen 39 pieces for my Winter capsule wardrobe, including tops, bottoms, outerwear, bags, and shoes. I’ll be sticking to these 39 items for the next 3 months (December through February), but adding in accessories throughout. Many of these items rolled over from my Fall wardrobe or I pulled out of storage. Only a handful of items are new purchases.

Last week I made a very special announcement and since I know my body will be changing quite a bit in these 3 months (as it will be the start of my second trimester), I’m not shutting out the idea that I may need to make a few new purchases to fit my growing bump. I haven’t begun showing yet, so I’m counting on fitting in the majority of these 39 items through most of the second trimester.
